The Gray Market for Home Health Care
A recent article in the New York Times by Jane Gross spoke about the growing underground or “gray†market for home health care workers. The article basically says that the increasing cost of private pay home health care is causing a large underground market. While there are dangers using a person who has not been professionally screened and interviewed, the cost saving seems to outweigh this for many. A good compromise may be using referral agencies who do the screening, but do not add on many of the costs of traditional agencies. This is a topic which will become more and more important as the baby boomers begin to grow.
